Collection: Discolouration Routine

This routine targets the key sources of discolouration, with each product either supporting or balancing the others. The key elements of the routine are downregulating pigment production, interruption pigment transfer into the skin cells, and exfoliating away pigmented cells, while maintaining adequate barrier function. Specifically:

  • The Simply Clean Gel removes oils, dirt, and other debris from the skin while soothing with camomile and aloe extracts.
  • The Exfoliating Polish removes dead skin cells, and the Cell Cycle Catalyst boosts its effect by loosening the connections between old cells and fresher cells underneath.
  • The Phloretin provides strong antioxidant support, protecting cell function and protein production, while downregulating the cells that produce excessive pigment.
  • The Discolouration Defence targets discolouration through its three main mechanisms -- it downregulates pigment production, blocks transfer of pigment from the cells that produce it into the skin cells, and gently exfoliates discoloured cells off the surface.
  • The Even Tone both targets pigment production, reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation, while hydrating the skin.
  • The AlphaRet Overnight Serum is a powerful retinoid that increases cell turnover, improving metabolic activity. It also has glycolic acid, which brightens the skin and helps reduce discolouration.
  • The Metacell gently maitains the skin's hydration and targets signs of photoaging with a combination of peptides and nutrients.
  • The Colorescience FLEX SPF 50 protects from UV, infrared, and blue light radiation, preventing further photoaging, while providing good coverage for your discolouration while the active products do their work.

All that said, everyone's skin is different; some people would benefit from more exfoliation, while others may be able to get away with a simpler moisturizer like the Skinceuticals' Daily Moisture. Dropping by the clinic to talk with our expert staff, or booking a consult to review your skin care program and discuss treatments, is the best way to make sure you're getting the most out of your routine.
